Our Team of Attorneys at Downey Law Group LLC/DLG Closing is dedicated not only to the
Firm but also to their communities, serving as Board Directors of various non-profit
organizations as well as for-profit banks.

Brian P. Downey, Esq..

Brian is the Proprietor and Managing Partner of Downey Law Group, LLC and DLG Closing. Since 2004 Downey Law Group, LLC has provided strong customer-focused legal services primarily in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, Land Use, Zoning, Condominium, Business/Commercial  Law, as well as extensive Residential and Commercial real estate conveyance and refinance in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Brian earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the Massachusetts School of Law. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), and Real Estate Bar Association (REBA), and has served as a Counsel/Member of the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center.

Caitlin M. Masys, Esq.

Caitlin joined the firm in September of 2019 as a Senior Associate Attorney. A large portion of her practice is in the areas of real estate conveyancing and real property law, including land use and zoning, for both residential and commercial properties. However, Caitlin also practices in the areas of estate planning, probate administration, trust administration, and business law. Caitlin has over 17 years of experience as a practitioner in Massachusetts and over 8 years of experience as a practitioner in New Hampshire. She frequently represents builders and contractors in their acquisition and development of residential properties covering the entire process from purchase to approvals to sale in the Merrimack Valley and surrounding areas.

 

Caitlin earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School in 2006 and was the recipient of an Academic Leadership Scholarship and a Jurisprudence Award for Evidence. Caitlin volunteers her time to her community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Stevens-Bennett Foundation, the Greater Haverhill Foundation, Community Action, Inc., and Penacook Place. Caitlin is a licensed attorney in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  As of November 2023, Caitlin now serves on the Board of Directors for Haverhill Bank.

Thomas J. Sullivan, Esq.

Tom joined the firm in June 2019 as a Senior Associate Attorney. His primary focus is Residential and Commercial Real Estate conveyancing in MA, NH, and ME. Since 2003 Tom has closed thousands of residential and commercial transactions, representing buyers, sellers, and most lenders.


Prior to joining the firm Tom was the owner of his own real estate law practice with an office located in downtown Haverhill. Tom earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1992, and his Master's degree in Public Administration and Bachelor's degree in Government from Suffolk University in 1988 and 1985 respectively.


He is currently serving his seventh term as a City Councilor in Haverhill, and has extensive experience in both local and state government, having worked previously for 20 years at the Massachusetts State House as Chief of Staff and Legislative Aide. Tom has also served on the Boards of many non-profit organizations. He is also a Corporator with Pentucket Bank.

Aubrie L. Gallagher, Esq.

Aubrie joined the firm in May 2023 as a Senior Associate Attorney. She is an experienced estate planning, probate, and trust administration attorney, having practiced as a solo practitioner for over 10 years. Aubrie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Westfield State College in 2009, and her Juris Doctorate degree from Massachusetts School of Law in 2011.


An Amesbury native, Aubrie comes from three generations of estate planning and probate attorneys, following in the footsteps of her mother, Attorney Janice Weyland Sinclair, and her grandfather, Attorney Wendell P. Weyland, who was a CPA and estate attorney in the Topsfield/Boxford area. Aubrie resides in Amesbury with her family, and in her spare time, she enjoys working in her garden.

John J. O'Keefe, Esq.

Jack O'Keefe joined the firm in 2019 and serves as Of Counsel. His practice consists primarily of residential real estate conveyancing. Representing lenders, buyers, and sellers of real estate, Jack's experience includes Land Court matters and title insurance claims. He is a title insurance agent for four title insurance companies and is authorized to issue title insurance policies in the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine.


Jack graduated from Boston College in 1981 and from St. John's University School of Law in 1984. He is admitted to the Bar of Massachusetts, New York, and the United States District Court for Massachusetts. Jack has been an active member of the Beverly Kiwanis Club since 1998 and has served as president and Delegate to the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute.

Jack served as an elected member of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional School Committee from 2006-2012. Jack has been a volunteer driver for Senior Care since 2012 and has been active in various ministries at the Church of Saint Paul in Hamilton since moving to Hamilton in 1994.

James P. Cleary III, Esq.

Jay joined the firm in January 2023 and serves as Of Counsel. He is a third-generation attorney who has been in practice with his brother Joe since 1977. Jay specializes in Elder Law, Estate Planning, Wills & Trusts, Probate of Estates, as well as residential and commercial real estate transactions.


Jay earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1974, and his Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1977. He is admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts He has been a member of the Haverhill Bar Association and the  National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) since 1993.


Jay is an active member of the Greater Haverhill community, serving on the Board of Directors of Haverhill Community Media, The Buttonwoods Museum, The John Greenleaf Whittier Birthplace, and The Griffin White Charitable Foundation Inc.

Joseph A. Cleary, Esq.

Joe joined the firm in January 2023 and serves as Of Counsel. He is a third-generation attorney who has been in practice with his twin brother Jay since 1977. Joe concentrates on Elder Law Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Probate Estate Administration, as well as residential and commercial real estate transactions.


Joe earned his undergraduate degree from UMass Amherst in 1974, and his Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1977. He was admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts in 1977. He is a member of the Haverhill Bar
Association.


Joe is an active member of the Greater Haverhill community, presently serving on the Board of Directors of Pentucket Bank, Greater Haverhill Foundation, and Elmwood Cemetery. He is a member of Haverhill Citizens Hall of Fame Committee and Haverhill Rotary Club.
