Well known Haverhill lawyers join law practice





HAVERHILL — Well-known local attorneys James Cleary III and his twin brother Joseph Cleary have joined Downey Law Group LLC and will serve as “Of Counsel” to the firm.

The Cleary brothers are third generation attorneys who have been in practice since 1977 and will continue to specialize in elder law, life and estate planning, wills and trusts, asset protection strategies, probate of estates, planning for persons with special needs and planning for disability, as well as residential and commercial real estate transactions.


Their addition to the practice will result in Downey Law Group expanding its estate planning, elder law, and probate practice, according to a press release from the Downey Law Group.

Downey Law Group is beginning its 19th year of law practice. Their main office and mailing address will continue to be 462 Boston St., Suite 2, Topsfield, however, as of Jan. 1 they have moved from their Merrimack Street office in downtown Haverhill to the current location of Cleary & Cleary Law Office at 345 Main St.


Downey Law Group LLC currently provides real estate services (both residential and commercial), closing services, and lender representation in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, and also provides corporate and small business law and formation services, land use, estate planning, probate, condominium law services, and builder and developer representation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.


The addition of the Cleary brothers brings the total number of attorneys in the practice to six, along with a paralegal staff of five. Currently with the firm are Attorneys Brian Downey, Caitlin Masys, Thomas Sullivan (a Haverhill City Councilor), and John O’Keefe, Jr.
